Getting to Know Chris
Musical Timeline

We all have times we feel lost and can’t see the path before us. Chris Chickering is a singer-songwriter whose music shines a light on that path, through messages of hope, healing and empowerment. Since 2012 he has recorded six studio albums (Site/iTunes): Shine (2012), Living in the Now (2013), The Resurrection of Me (2014), The Better Side (2015), Regeneration (2015), and The Hero’s Journey (fall, 2017).

Fueled by a desire to empower himself and others, Chris has always found music to be a reliable refuge for guidance and inspiration, especially during his darkest days. Growing up in San Francisco, Chris was influenced by artists like Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Train and The Rolling Stones and moved by the humanitarian efforts of singer-songwriter Harry Chapin, to create his own unique message-driven, rock music.

Great music starts with great songs. In the fall of 2012 Chris Chickering and three time Emmy-winning, Grammy-nominated songwriter Greg Barnhill (“Walkaway Joe,” “House of Love”), discovered their shared passion for lifting people’s spirits through music. Since then they have co-written over one hundred songs and joined forces on five studio albums.
“My Mission is to unite and heal hearts through music.”
– Chris Chickering

Chris connects with audiences at public and privately hosted events worldwide, as a soloist and with his band. He is currently gearing up for the release of his sixth studio album, The Hero’s Journey which was recorded in June, 2017. Chris is a fitness freak and yogi (RYT200). In his free time he enjoys hiking with his dog Chili in the beautiful mountains of his hometown Santa Fe, New Mexico, and of course songwriting.

Chris has collaborated with a number highly acclaimed producers, engineers, songwriters and musicians—including Greg Bieck (Kenny G, Lionel Richie), Ron Cohen (Saturday Night Live, The Sopranos), Mills Logan (Taylor Swift, Art Garfunkel) Brian Hardgroove (Public Enemy) and John Kurzweg (Creed, Jewel).

For each of his albums, Chris has recruited ‘dream teams’ of musicians including: Mike Durham – guitar (Dave Matthews), Vail Johnson – bass (Kenny G, Herbie Hancock), Shawn Fichter – drums (Tim McGraw), Dennis Matkosky – B3 organ & piano (“Maniac,” “You’ll Think of Me”), Jimmy Wallace – keys (The Wallflowers, Gavin DeGraw), Ilya Tochinskiy – banjo & mandolin (Carrie Underwood, James Blunt), Tim Lauer – accordion (Cheap Trick) and Jim Hoke – harmonica (Bob Seger, Cheryl Crow).
